The Chinese claim to have invented chess some 2000 years ago during the Hansing Campaign. Here is a fine example of a beautifully carved 19th century Chinese chess set. The original set was carved in Indian Ivory with each well proportioned, perfectly finished piece mounted upon an octagon base, figure and base carved from a single piece of ivory throughout.

You will find in this box nine rubber moulds,

• one King
• one Queen
• one Bishop
• one Knight
• one Rook 
• Four Pawns.

The height of the King is approximately 120mm.
